The Louis Vuitton City Guide to Paris – a review
We adore travel guides here at Biologique Recherche London HQ and when the latest Louis Vuitton Paris City Guide came out, we knew we had to have it. We were even more excited when we realised we were featured in it! Our beautifully decorated Paris Head Office Ambassade de la Beauté is mentioned and the treatments we deliver are described as ‘transformational’.
Billed as Louis Vuitton’s guide to their favourite places, the approach is fascinating: ‘The aim is to provide a good balance of addresses, from time honoured classics to fashionable new establishments. Well known or offbeat, exclusive or unassuming’.
With Paris being a city break destination of choice amongst HQ staff we thought we’d review some of the places featured in the guide that we at Biologique Recherche UK personally adore…
Where to shop
I have been obsessed with Malle’s Editions de Parfums since I accosted a complete stranger and found out she was wearing ‘Portrait of a Lady’. I bought it the following day and have since been accosted myself by strangers asking what I’m wearing.
My must-visit venue from the guide has to be Malle’s Editions de Parfums, a ‘labyrinthine shop’ with immersive fragrance booths when I can spend an afternoon surrounding myself with the creations of some of the world’s best noses.
Where to drink
I adore a cocktail but being well into my late thirties, I can’t stand busy, overcrowded bars. I want somewhere intimate, beautiful and, naturally, I want exquisitely made drinks. On my next Parisian jaunt, I’ll be heading straight for La Conserverie: ‘a place for late night conversation’, ‘Barman Romain Krot’s drink list is ‘magic’, with a ‘plethora of cocktails and spirits together with organic and artisanal soft drinks’ That sounds just what I need after a hard day roaming the floors of Colette.
Where to lunch
Described in the Louis Vuitton Guide as ‘a contemporary brasserie that is totally delightful’, Paradis is my recommendation for a lovely lunch. The decor is sexy, quirky and different, the menu created by a former chef at L’Arpege and the service expert and unhurried.
Where to stay
When I visited Paris I wanted to stay somewhere different, with a story, and I found this with Prince De Galles Hotel. Decorated in Art Deco style, the rooms are huge and are decorated so luxuriously you feel like royalty! Even the smallest rooms measure 30 square metres which in Paris is very palatial! This is definitely a place for you if you are looking to be pampered for the weekend.
What we pack
Travelling can play havoc with your skin so you will always find Lait VIP 02 and Biokiss in our Monogram canvas cosmetic pouch. Lait VIP 02 removes makeup and impurities whilst leaving the skin calmed and balanced. The Biokiss is great for all skin instants and keeps the lips hydrated whilst protecting against the wind, cold and sun.
