Exfoliate your skin the right way
There are numerous exfoliating products available on the market. The use of these beauty essentials at home allows to have a healthy, radiant skin. Here are our gentler, bead-free alternative options to harmful granular exfoliators…
Why you need to exfoliate
By exfoliating your face, you will remove dead skin cells from the surface layer of your skin, which will reveal the new, soft skin underneath for a youthful glow.
If done regularly, you can get rid of the built-up from the pores, improve your skin’s texture and tone, and help stimulate blood flow as well as the production of new cells and collagen. Additionally, it provides a smoother surface for ladies to apply makeup more evenly, and a cleaner look for men.
How exfoliation works
Exfoliation is actually a natural phenomenon that occurs at every cycle of epidermis renewal when the epidermis sheds its dead cells; due to sun damage or genetics, this process can slow down. Furthermore, if the skin is subjected to significant and repeated exterior stresses, cell production is accelerated and cell maturation is incomplete.
If that superficial part of the epidermis is not taken off quick enough, your complexion may appear dull and uneven. It can also feel rough to the touch, cause clogged pores and worsen ageing signs such as the loss of firmness and apparition of wrinkles.
An exfoliator should be part of your daily facial skincare routine, especially as you age, to aid the natural exfoliation process.
The different ways to exfoliate
In order to free the stratum corneum – the upper layer of the epidermis – of its dead, flat and irregular cells that are due to be eliminated naturally, you will need to utilise exfoliation products.
- Manual exfoliators
These are every common and contain many different types of granules including sugar, salt, beads or crystals that literally scrub the dead skin off. Due to their compounds, these products can be irritating and skin can become red, blotchy and extra sensitive. A rough, coarse scrub can even cause skin damage such as micro-tears. Also, many of the facial daily scrubs contain microbeads, which are tiny toxic plastic particles that build up in lakes and endanger marine life.
- Cleansing brushes
Skin devices are a great way to thoroughly cleanse the skin. However, they can be abrasive and lead to over exfoliation. Indeed, these tools could stress out the skin, which could become inflamed, if used too often or too strongly. They are usually not recommended for sensitive Skin Instants®.
- Chemical exfoliators
Nor the manual exfoliators or the cleansing brushes will replace the benefits possible from a well-formulated, acid-based exfoliator. Indeed, most of the unhealthy, built-up skin cells are beyond the reach of a scrub… This is why Biologique Recherche has developed the Lotions P50 that gently support the natural process of exfoliation and create an ideal environment on the surface of the epidermis so that the skin can develop healthily and harmoniously.
How to exfoliate your face the BR way
The Lotions P50 are cornerstone products used in the first stage of all Biologique Recherche body care treatment programmes. They are multifunctional products that combine the benefits of a purifying, exfoliating, moisturising and toning lotion, which helps to rebuild the epidermal barrier and balance the acid pH of the skin. The strengthened epidermis fully fulfils its protective function and speeds up the skin’s self-renewal potential. The chemicals used in our Lotions P50 will prepare the skin and enhance the effects of the products applied afterwards.
All formulas use effective exfoliating and reconditioning ingredients such as AHA (alpha hydroxy acids: salicylic acid), BHA (beta hydroxy acids: malic acid, lactic acid, citric acid), PHA (poly hydroxy acids: gluconolactone), cider vinegar and sulphur. These acid-based formulations are gentler and efficient way to exfoliate your skin as they will remove deeper dead skin cells, although they do not penetrate the dermis below the surface layers of skin.
Today, Biologique Recherche UK’s Lotions P50 range is made of four products that have been specifically formulated to adapt to every unique Skin Instant®:

How to exfoliate your body the BR way
As the weather heats up and you get ready for summer season – whether you are planning on being exposed to sun or applying tanning products -, you should exfoliate head to toe to achieve a natural glow.
Similarly formulated to the Lotions P50 for the face, Biologique Recherche has specifically adapted the product for the body. Lotion P50 Corps is an essential product which removes your body’s dead skin cells, and can be paired with a massage glove for enhanced at home results.
Our second exfoliator for the body is Gommage P50 Corps. Biologique Recherche has combined both chemical and mechanical exfoliation, to double the exfoliating benefits. This product is suitable for the thicker, more resistant skin of the body. By scrubbing the cockleshell particles on your body skin, which needs to be freed of larger impurities, your skin will be left glowing with health and unified.
Both body products can be used together as the perfect summer combo…
