Biologique Recherche Around The World – Beijing
As one of the six ancient cities in China, Beijing, a modern city with an incredible past, has become one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. In our new BR Around The World Travel Guide we explore why and give you our top places to stay, eat, shop and visit…
Where to stay
After a long and tiring flight, the first thing you will want to do in this amazing city is… sleep! Well, there’s no better place than the Four Seasons to rest your head on your travels, with 313 guest rooms to choose from (including 66 luxury suites), you’re sure to find the perfect room to fit all of your sleeping needs. Located in the Liangma area of the Central Business District, you are right in the heart of all the entertainment and excitement. This grand hotel boasts two signature restaurants; Cai Yi Xuan, named the best restaurant in China and Mio, a comforting Italian restaurant to make you feel right at home.
If you require even more relaxation in this busy city, just head down to the spa, complete with a beautiful Tea Garden, wet wellness areas and peaceful and traditional Chinese spa treatments. While you are there, make sure you experience a luxury Biologique Recherche Treatment!
Where to eat
We’ve all probably eaten Chinese food before, but nothing quite compares to the dining experience at JE Mansion. Situated in the Financial District of Beijing, JE Mansion offers an exquisite and contemporary environment with delicacies inspired by China’s four main culinary styles. After you have experienced the best of Beijing dining, it’s time to relax in the swanky cocktail bar; overlooking the plush lawn of Honglingjin Park, it’s the perfect way to wind down for the evening.
Empress Orchid is a novel by Anchee Min which was first published in Great Britain in 2004. A sympathetic account of the life of Empress Dowager Cixi, this compelling story follows the life of a young Manchu girl named Orchid Yehonala from her humble beginnings to her rise as the Empress Dowager.
By day, cooing couples can stroll through Ritan Park, with its elegant scarlet temples, or duck into the Confucius Temple with its tranquil inner pavilions shaded by cypress trees. By night, Houhai is an enchanting destination where soft lanterns and 1920s era music set the mood for dancing cheek to cheek in front of the lake, while the lakeside Stone Boat Bar in the middle of Ritan Park is a similarly evocative spot for jazz and cocktails.
Tai Chi means ‘supreme ultimate fist’, so don’t expect to be taking part in an easy workout! What better place to try this three hundred-year-old martial art than in its birthplace? Take a trip to the beautiful and tranquil Beihai Park in Beijing and join the locals for a spot of Tai Chi. If that doesn’t take your fancy, there’s plenty more activities to enjoy in this wonderful park; there’s a man-made lake in the centre for boating in the summer and ice skating in the winter, an imperial park, a spiritual garden and lots of stunning architecture to enjoy.
Where to shop
Just like HongQiao Pearl Market offers more than pearls, Silk Market offers a lot more than just silk! In the basement floor you’ll find shoes, belts, handbags and suitcases etc, with the first and second floor dedicated to mainly designer clothes.
Silk products are sold on the third floor: ties, tablecloths, traditional clothes as well as dressing gowns, underwear and many other products made of silk. There are also tailors here, willing to make suits or dresses for tourists that often pay a little more than they should. For a vibrant, exciting and authentic Chinese shopping experience with a touch of luxury, this is the place to go!
What to pack
For the plane journey, make sure you have your essential Biologique Recherche kit ready to go. You will need L’Eauxygenante Spray for a refreshing spritz of orange and kiwi extract to keep your skin hydrated, and if you apply your Masque VIP O2 before you doze off you will wake to a revitalised, glowing complexion!
The weather in Beijing is beautiful in April, flowers are starting to come into bloom and trees are turning green. You will want to enjoy the sunshine and partake in some outside activities – you will not want to waste too much time in your room! Keep your skin regime simple with Lait VIP O2 to calm and rebalance – the Specific BR Oxygenating Complex will immerse the cells in oxygen.
The streets of Beijing can be quite heavily polluted – remember to pack Crème VIP O2 to protect the skin. This will also prevent the signs of ageing and soothe the skin from the stress it goes through in flight and during a change of environment.
