How to navigate pregnancy like a BR Lady
Biologique Recherche’s UK National Ambassador and Trainer,
Amie Biller, proudly announced the big news to the BR UK team seven months ago.
Making an announcement
After the utter exhaustion of the first 6-12 weeks, comes the very welcomed second trimester! My energy levels started to go up and I started showing a more defined bump, as opposed to a ‘roll’ of what could easily be mistaken as too many mince pies during Christmas. I now felt and looked pregnant, which, in the Beauty Industry, is pretty important.
Adapting to your new body
I really didn’t mind my new body shape at all. It’s all about embracing it. In fact, show it off! I went from having ample breasts to having the fullest, most bountiful pregnancy boobs you have ever seen! However, when it came to my beautiful skin, it started becoming much more sensitive than usual, and dryness started to occur.
First step, HYDRATION! I immediately went to my treasure trove of babies (this is what I call my entire Biologique Recherche collection) and instantly picked up the Serum Amniotique E. This serum is fantastic for sensitive skin in need of hydration, and WOW! What a sensation!
Second step, PROTECTION: The next product my eyes focus on is my trusty Emulsion Gel Biosensible. Calming, restructuring fortifying and protecting; an instant relief to my skin and my soul.
I may be sounding over-exuberant at the moment, but sensations are so much more acute during pregnancy and the slightest bit of comfort is such a respite. My medical mind switches on, and I know that my hormone levels, circulation and immune system are all affected during this time, but all I want is to be comfortable. Paying attention to these changes, and noticing the differences is so important to me, as it allows me to change what I’m doing and improve my situation, allowing me to adapt my skincare routine to my Skin Instant.
A Healthy Lifestyle and time for YOU
Being a bit of a health freak and self-confessed Wholefoods addict, I wanted to maintain that as much as I could. Upping the raw juices, raw bars and eating as many wholesome meals as possible, made me feel healthy and in control. It keeps me sane and zen which is my mantra–Happy mother equals a happy baby.
Pregnancy Yoga is a great way to not only relax, and promote well-being, but it has also given me breathing techniques to handle any pains I may experience. I now understand the POWER OF OMMMMMM…..
Keeping my skin healthy is always so important, so to boost my sensitive skin, I get one of my BR girls to treat me with a Biosensible Treatment, OH SO NEEDED treatment!
How I relax…
This is the time I made sure that I gave myself no excuses … I relaxed as much as I could, as I realised that doing things for myself was so important, and soon, I somehow thing …. I may not be able to …
I love grabbing my favourite novel, cozying up on the couch with a mug of Hot chocolate, and lashing my face with the oxygenating Masque VIP02. Perfect for my stressed skin, hydrating, brightening and unifying. But best of all, it reduces the dark circles around the eye area. As I am approaching my due date, I’m finding increasingly difficulty in getting comfortable in bed, and getting a full night’s sleep. My beloved and much needed pregnancy pillow offers me endless comfort, but it sometimes still isn’t enough … even though my husband resents the fact that it’s taken his place in our bed, as he perches on the edge.
It is crucial to have time for you. My best friend told me, “When you have time now and people want to spoil you, take advantage of it, because once the baby is born, they’re no longer going to ask about you! So whether it is to go and get your hair done, or your nails done, or in my case, a pregnancy massage, once a month, do it.”
I’m not a pure-pamper treatment kind of girl. My experience through the years has made me believe that a purely pampering treatment has little value, I always want something which is results-driven, so pregnancy treatments don’t really appeal to me. On the other hand, I can’t really have my normal treatments at the moments … because I’m pregnant, so the catch 22 starts here. To compensate I get my partner to massage my feet, which he is actually really good at; and I enjoy massaging my legs and arms with Crème Dermo-RL Corps. Its regenerating and reconditioning properties are again so comforting and luscious. WOW! I really am all about comfort these days!
The fun part: baby clothes
I absolutely love this bit!! My very first purchase was this eeny weeny denim dress from Mamas & Papas, which I instantly fell in love with, and the shopping hasn’t stopped since!
My Seraphine #just for love “You + Me = Us” is my go-to for comfy gear. It’s comfy and soft and just yummy all over.
The newest trend… one last-ditch attempt for mum and dad to go away and ‘relax’ before they are bound to be living indoors for 3 months and sleep for 3 hours a week… Just kidding. We decided on Lucknam Park, a beautiful Palladian Mansion in the Cotswolds’, set amongst acres and acres of private parkland.
Coming to the end of my pregnancy experience, I would tell any new mums-to-be to make sure to take care of yourself, mind and body, through this journey. Finding ways to relax, create memories, taking me-time and ENJOY! This time is so precious and something very special is about to happen.
